ABID City Visitor Charge
From April 1st 2023 all accommodation establishments within Manchester will commence with a new City Visitor Charge. This will take the form of £1 per room per night payable by every guest upon checkout. The payment will be identified as the City Visitor Charge on bills, receipts, and invoices and on all booking terms and conditions. The charge will apply to all arrivals from the 1st April 2023 including all bookings confirmed prior to this date.
This charge is similar to the charges you see when staying in Hotels in Europe and other parts of the World and will work towards helping our buzzing city to continue to grow. This is managed by the ‘Accommodation Business Improvement District’ board, also known as ABID. At its core, the Manchester ABID will deliver better visitor experiences to all guests; it is a ground-breaking new initiative led by the city’s hotel and serviced apartment providers to help create new events and additional activities that will attract more people to visit and stay in Manchester and Salford. It will also contribute to the enhancement of overall guest experience and help to expand the city’s visitor economy.
