Your Guide to Summer Skincare
Summer has officially arrived and although we all love the warm, sunny weather, it can have a huge effect on our skin. Not only can the sun cause damage, the heat can dehydrate our bodies which leaves our skin dry and irritated. Summer can also be quite sweaty which, in combination with sun cream, can clog our pores making our skin more prone to break outs.
RE:TREAT have six simple skincare tips to help you take care of yourself this summer.
Make sure you’re hydrated: Drink water and use hydrating products - this will help you to stay glowing, healthy, and energised. Adults should drink around 8 glasses of water a day so try and up this a little during the hotter days. For those who love their fruits, watermelon and cucumber are great for water intake.
SPF is your best friend: UV rays from the sun don't just cause a tan. They can cause premature aging, cancer, age spots and much more. Using a good SPF can help prevent this, factor 30 and up is a safe choice but don't forget about hands, feet, ears, and lips – these all need protecting too!
Keep moisturised: Summer weather can dry out your skin so try a moisturiser to keep your skin happy. Find a light moisturiser or perhaps a dual moisturiser that contains SPF which will help avoid too much product weighing your skin down.
Exfoliate your skin: Although SPF is incredibly important and sweat helps to cool you down, both can affect your skin - so be sure to exfoliate 2-3 a week and help to unclog your pores, your skin will thank you!
Stay light with your makeup: Wearing heavy makeup in the summer can make you feel as though you're wearing an extra layer and you may also sweat it off! So, embrace your natural beauty and give your skin a break.
Enjoy some leafy greens: Antioxidants protect your skin from environmental damage, help to boost collagen, and prevents damage to skin. You can use serums or work leafy greens and delicious fruits into your summer diet, such as: strawberries, blueberries, spinach and kale.
